Most military explosives are organic nitro compounds. This includes TNT, PETN, RDX, HMX and many others.

The Nitro-Spy^TM detects organic nitro compounds on surfaces and in liquid samples.

Each Nitro-Spy^TM contains absorbent pads for wiping suspicious surfaces or capturing droplets of a suspicious sample. Once the sample is collected, several drops from the provided solution bottle are applied to the absorbent pad. If there are organic nitro compounds on the absorbent pad a color change will occur in 10 to 30 seconds.

NOTE: USING THE NITRO-SPY^TM DOES NOT RELEASE SOLVENTS, BASES AND OTHER TOXIC MATERIALS INTO THE AIR. THEREFORE, THE NITRO-SPY^TM IS PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR USE IN CONFINED SPACES SUCH AS AIRCRAFT CABINS AND/OR ON DELICATE SURFACES.

The Nitro-Spy^TM Kit includes enough material to conduct 10 surface tests. The Kit weighs less than 7 ounces (200 grams), making it easy to store, transport and deploy. This is especially important in situations where a professional laboratory or expensive equipment is not available, or when immediate results are required (10 to 45 seconds). Cleaning pads and a waste disposal bag are included in the Kit to clean the surfaces after testing.
