Terrorists have used commonly available materials, as well as military-type explosives, to construct bombs and improvised explosive devices, IEDs. Many times, the handling of these materials leaves small residues of raw materials or ready-made explosives on surfaces such as: table tops, hands, clothing, passport covers, etc.
ChemSee offers a line of simple, low-cost detectors that can help instantly establish if a surface is contaminated with such materials. These detectors are small and easy-to-use, even by untrained personnel. For example, if a suspicious material is found in an airplane, a stewardess can easily determine if the material is explosive or if a person attempted to make an explosive. A small number of detectors can be kept onboard an airplane for in-flight analysis of suspicious materials that could potentially constitute a hazard or be used to make hazardous materials. No expensive instrumentation, batteries or skilled personnel are required.

NOTE: Use of ChemSee's Detectors for Solid Explosives does not involve spraying solvents or corrosive materials onto suspect surfaces. Solvents can pollute aircraft air, strip paint and corrode.
