Rapid Cyanide Screening for Food & Beverages
The ChemSee CN-30 cyanide detector is a rapid colorimetric test for screening food and beverages for cyanide. A prepared liquid sample is applied directly to the detector, and a visible blue/green color response indicates the presence of cyanide.

The CN-30 provides a visible color response typically within approximately 30 seconds to 4 minutes.
Blue / Green Response
A positive test produces a visible blue or blue-green color in the detection area. No electronic reader is required.
Liquid or Prepared Samples
Liquid samples may be tested directly. Solid foods are mixed with water before the prepared liquid portion is applied to the detector.

How the CN-30 Works
Prepare the sample when necessary, add a few drops to the detector and observe the detection area for a color response.
Prepare the Sample
Liquids: Use the liquid sample as-is.
Solid foods: Chop the sample into small pieces and mix with approximately an equal portion of water. Mix thoroughly for about 3 minutes. If the mixture remains very thick, additional water may be added.
Apply the Sample
Use the supplied pipette to place approximately 3–5 drops of the liquid or prepared sample into the entry port marked “Place Sample Here.”
Allow the sample to travel through the detector.
Observe the Result
Watch the cyanide detection area for formation of a blue or blue-green color.
The detector also includes a built-in test-end indicator to help show when the test has progressed through the card.
Interpreting the Cyanide Test
Before and After Testing
An unused detector begins without the characteristic cyanide color response. When cyanide is present at a detectable level, a blue or blue-green color develops in the designated detection area.
Always interpret the result using the color instructions supplied with the detector.
Important: The CN-30 is a screening test. Sample composition, dilution during preparation and other matrix effects can influence the visibility and sensitivity of a colorimetric result.

Rapid Screening — Not Laboratory Quantification
The CN-30 is designed as a rapid colorimetric screening test for cyanide in food and beverage samples. It provides a visual indication of whether cyanide is detected under the conditions of the test; it does not provide a numerical concentration measurement.
