SprayView™-Lead Surface Detection Kit
The ChemSee SprayView™-Lead kit is a rapid lead test kit for colorimetric screening of suspect surfaces. Apply Solution A followed by Solution B directly to the area being tested and observe the surface for a visible red color response.
Test Surface Directly
Apply the detection solutions directly to the suspect area without collecting a separate sample or using an electronic reader.
Red Indicates Lead
When lead is detected under the conditions of the test, a visible red color develops on the treated surface.
Up to 20 Tests
Each SprayView™-Lead kit contains sufficient detection solution to screen approximately 20 suspect surface areas.
How SprayView™-Lead Works
Apply the two detection solutions sequentially to the suspect surface, then inspect the treated area for the characteristic red lead response.
1
Apply Solution A
Remove the cap from Solution A. Hold the bottle approximately 4–6 inches from the suspect surface and spray directly onto the area being tested.
2
Apply Solution B
Remove the cap from Solution B. From approximately 4–6 inches away, spray directly onto the same area treated with Solution A.
3
Observe the Result
Inspect the treated surface after both solutions have been applied. A characteristic red color response indicates lead has been detected under the conditions of the test.
Surface interpretation: Surface color, coatings, contamination, application technique and other surface conditions may affect the appearance of a colorimetric result. Always follow the instructions supplied with the kit.
Interpreting the Lead Response
SprayView™-Lead uses a direct visual surface reaction, so no color-matching instrument or electronic reader is required.
Red Color Develops
Development of the characteristic red surface color indicates that lead has been detected at the tested location under the conditions of the screening procedure.
No Red Color
If the characteristic red response does not form, lead is not detected at that location by the test. Always evaluate the result according to the supplied color-reference instructions.
Important: A screening result applies only to the area tested. Surface composition, coatings, contamination and application conditions may affect the visibility of the response.
Where Can SprayView™-Lead Be Used?
SprayView™-Lead is intended for rapid screening of suspect surfaces where lead contamination or lead-containing material may be a concern.
Painted Surfaces
Screen accessible painted or coated areas where lead-containing material is suspected.
Pipes & Components
Screen appropriate accessible plumbing, fixture or component surfaces where lead may be present.
Objects & Materials
Use for direct screening of other suitable surfaces when the presence of lead is a concern and spray application is appropriate.

Surface Screening — Not Exposure Testing
SprayView™-Lead is designed to screen surfaces for the presence of lead using a visual colorimetric reaction. It does not measure the amount of lead in a person’s body, determine whether someone has been exposed to lead, or provide a blood-lead measurement.
The test also does not provide a precise numerical lead concentration on the tested surface. When quantitative analysis, regulatory testing or formal lead-hazard assessment is required, an appropriate certified analytical or inspection method should be used.
