Hydrogen Peroxide Test Strips

Peroxide Check Food & Beverage Test

ChemSee hydrogen peroxide test strips provide rapid colorimetric screening for peroxide in compatible food solutions, beverages and other liquids. Peroxide Check uses a clean-water reference strip and a sample strip so the two responses can be compared directly without an electronic reader.

PEROXIDE SCREENING

Food & Liquid Testing

Designed for screening compatible liquid food and beverage samples for peroxide, including applications involving milk and other food-processing liquids.

VISUAL COMPARISON

Two-Strip Test

One strip is exposed to clean water as a reference while the second is exposed to the sample being tested. Compare the two responses to interpret the result.

RAPID & DISPOSABLE

Results in Minutes

The compact disposable strips provide a rapid visual screening result without laboratory equipment or an electronic reader.

Description

Peroxide is a hazardous chemical, and potential contaminant in many foods, especially those that are spoiling or have been produced on freshly sterilized equipment. Exposure to peroxide can have harmful effects on the health, especially in vulnerable individuals such as children or the elderly.

Stick-It Peroxide allows for rapid determination of peroxides in food solutions and liquids. These simple capillaries allow for determining the presence of peroxide in minutes, giving sensitive individuals protection even when away from their own kitchen.

Brief Instructions:

  1. Remove the two provided strips from their container.
  2. Dip the first test strip in clean water.
  3. Dip the second test strip in the test solution.
  4. Compare the two strips.
  5. If no blue color forms on the test solution strip, there are peroxides in the food or drink.

Features:

  • Small in Size
  • Simple to Use
  • Disposable
  • Responds Quickly
  • Food Safe

Detailed Instructions are provided with each order.

How Peroxide Check Works

Use one strip as a clean-water reference and the second strip for the sample, then compare the resulting color responses.

1

Prepare the Strips

  • Remove the two supplied test strips from their container.
  • Keep track of which strip will be used as the clean-water reference and which will be used for the sample.

2

Dip & Compare

  • Dip the first strip in clean water.
  • Dip the second strip in the liquid sample being tested.
  • Allow the color responses to develop.

3

Interpret the Result

  • Compare the sample strip with the clean-water reference.
  • If the sample strip does not develop the expected blue color, peroxide is indicated under the conditions of the test.
  • Always confirm the result using the supplied instructions.

Interpreting Peroxide Check

Unlike many colorimetric tests where a new color indicates a positive result, Peroxide Check uses the difference between the reference and sample-strip responses.

REFERENCE RESPONSE

Clean-Water Strip

The first strip is dipped in clean water and provides a reference response for comparison with the food or beverage sample.

Use this reference when evaluating the sample strip rather than interpreting the sample strip by itself.

PEROXIDE INDICATION

No Blue on Sample Strip

When the sample strip fails to develop the expected blue response relative to the reference, peroxide is indicated in the tested sample under the conditions of the test.

Follow the supplied product instructions for final interpretation.

Important: The test result depends on the response of both strips. Do not interpret the sample strip without the clean-water reference. Sample color, composition and other matrix effects may also influence a visual colorimetric result.

Common Peroxide Screening Applications

Hydrogen peroxide may be encountered in food-processing environments where it is used for sanitation or sterilization. Peroxide Check provides a convenient screening option for compatible liquid samples where residual peroxide is a concern.

DAIRY

Milk Screening

Milk is a common application for Peroxide Check when screening for possible residual peroxide associated with processing or sanitation.

BEVERAGES

Liquid Food Samples

Screen other compatible beverages and liquid food samples where the presence of peroxide is being investigated.

FOOD PROCESSING

Residual Peroxide

Useful as a rapid screening tool when peroxide-based processing or sanitation may have resulted in residual peroxide in a compatible liquid sample.

Rapid Screening — Not Lab Quantification

Peroxide Check is designed as a rapid colorimetric screening test for peroxide in compatible food and liquid samples. The visual result indicates whether peroxide is detected under the conditions of the test; it does not provide a precise numerical peroxide concentration.

When quantitative measurement, regulatory determination or confirmatory analysis is required, an appropriate laboratory method should be used.
