SprayView™-Lead Swab Detection Kit
The ChemSee SprayView™-Lead Swab Kit is a rapid lead swab test kit for colorimetric screening of small or focused surface areas. Apply the detection solution to the suspect surface, wipe the treated area with the supplied collection swab and inspect the swab for a visible red color response.
Target Small Areas
The swab format is designed for controlled screening of smaller suspect areas where broad spray coverage is unnecessary.
Red Indicates Lead
When lead is detected under the conditions of the test, a visible red color response develops on the collection swab.
Up to 20 Tests
Each SprayView™-Lead Swab Kit includes sufficient materials to screen approximately 20 suspect surface areas.
How SprayView™-Lead Swab Works
Treat the suspect surface with the detection solution, collect material from the treated area with a swab and inspect the swab for the characteristic red lead response.
1
Apply Detection Solution
Remove the cap from the detection solution. Hold the bottle approximately 4–6 inches from the suspect surface and apply the solution directly to the area being tested.
2
Swab the Surface
Remove one collection swab from its pouch and wipe the treated suspect surface to collect material from the test area.
3
Observe the Result
Inspect the collection swab after sampling. A characteristic red color response indicates lead has been detected under the conditions of the test.
Surface interpretation: Surface color, coatings, contamination, collection technique and other surface conditions may influence a colorimetric screening result. Always follow the instructions supplied with the kit.
Interpreting the Swab Result
SprayView™-Lead Swab uses a direct visual color response, so no electronic reader or instrument is required.
Red Color Develops
A characteristic red color on the collection swab indicates that lead has been detected at the sampled location under the conditions of the screening procedure.
No Red Color
If the characteristic red response does not develop, lead is not detected at that location by the test. Evaluate the result according to the supplied color-reference instructions.
Important: A result applies only to the surface area actually sampled. One negative location should not be interpreted as evidence that an entire object, room or structure is free of lead.
Where Can the Swab Kit Be Used?
The swab format is particularly useful when you want to screen a defined area without treating a larger surrounding surface.
Small Paint Areas
Screen selected painted or coated areas where lead-containing material is suspected.
Toys & Small Items
Use the swab format for appropriate accessible areas on small objects, components or other items where focused testing is preferred.
Focused Test Points
Screen defined locations on fixtures, hardware, plumbing components and other suitable suspect surfaces.

Swab Kit or Spray Kit?
Both SprayView™-Lead products use colorimetric surface screening. Choose the format based primarily on the size and type of area you want to test.
Focused Surface Areas
Choose the SprayView™-Lead Swab Kit when you want controlled screening of a smaller, defined location.
Best fit: small objects, selected paint areas, fixtures, hardware and individual test points.
Larger Surface Areas
Choose the SprayView™-Lead Spray Kit when direct application across a broader suspect surface is more appropriate.
Surface screening — not exposure testing: SprayView™-Lead Swab screens a sampled surface for lead. It does not measure lead in a person’s body, determine whether someone has been exposed to lead, provide a blood-lead result or measure a precise numerical lead concentration on the surface.
