STPD-06 Poison Detection Kit
The STPD-06 Poison Detection Kit is a portable, self-contained option for qualitative screening of food and beverage samples for more than 30 dangerous inorganic poisons and toxic compounds.
Its detector chemistry covers three poison groups: cyanides, azides, sulfides and chromates; heavy metals including lead, mercury, cadmium and thallium; and arsenic-containing compounds.
STPD-06 is designed as a lower-cost alternative to the KT-06 for organizations that can work within its six-month refrigerated shelf life and do not require built-in quality-assurance tabs.
Choose STPD-06 When
- Broad multi-poison screening is required.
- A lower initial kit cost is important.
- Refrigerated storage is available.
- A six-month shelf life fits the program.
- Built-in QA tabs are not required.
30+ Poisons
Broad qualitative screening across three groups of inorganic poisons and toxic compounds.
1–7 Grams
Required sample quantity depends on the food or beverage being screened.
3 Poison Groups
Coverage includes anion poisons, heavy metals and arsenic compounds.
6 Months
Store the kit in a refrigerated environment and plan inventory accordingly.
What Does the STPD-06 Detect?
Two detector components provide complementary screening across the same three broad poison groups addressed by the KT-06 detection platform.
Anion Poisons
- Cyanides
- Azides
- Sulfides
- Chromates
Screening for dangerous levels of the listed anion poison classes in a prepared sample.
Heavy Metal Poisons
- Lead
- Mercury
- Cadmium
- Thallium
Qualitative screening for the listed toxic heavy metals.
Arsenic Compounds
A separate detector component screens prepared samples for arsenic-containing compounds.
The three-group approach provides broad screening coverage without an electronic reader.
How the STPD-06 Works
The kit supports a straightforward workflow from representative sample preparation to visual qualitative screening.
Prepare the Sample
- Collect a representative sample of the food or beverage.
- Use the included preparation materials.
- Follow the supplied instructions for the sample type.
Run the Detectors
- Apply the prepared sample as directed.
- Run the detector components for the poison groups of concern.
- No electronic reader is required.
Interpret the Response
- Observe the resulting colorimetric response.
- Compare it with the supplied full-color instructions.
- Escalate positive or uncertain screens under your response protocol.
STPD-06 or KT-06?
Both kits address the same broad poison groups. The best choice depends on inventory planning, quality-assurance requirements and procurement priorities.
| Selection Factor | STPD-06 | KT-06 |
|---|---|---|
| Poison-group coverage | Groups I, II and III | Groups I, II and III |
| Built-in quality-assurance tabs | Not included | Included |
| Storage and shelf life | Six months; refrigerated storage | Better suited to programs prioritizing integrated QA and broader inventory flexibility |
| Typical purchasing priority | Lower-cost broad screening | Integrated quality-assurance capability |
Important distinction: The STPD-06 does not include the built-in quality-assurance tabs provided with the KT-06. Organizations that require an internal check of detector performance should select the KT-06 or discuss their protocol with ChemSee.
Kit Contents & Technical Details
Ready for Sample Preparation and Screening
- Detector component for Group I and Group II poisons
- Detector component for Group III arsenic compounds
- Materials required for sample preparation
- Mixing and transfer tools
- Full-color operating instructions
Qualitative Colorimetric Screening
| Specification | STPD-06 |
|---|---|
| Analysis method | Qualitative colorimetric screening |
| Poison groups | Groups I, II and III |
| Sample quantity | 1–7 g, depending on sample |
| Built-in QA tabs | No |
| Shelf life | Six months |
| Storage | Refrigerated environment |
| Electronic reader | Not required |
Screening use: STPD-06 provides qualitative screening for the listed poison groups. A positive or uncertain field screen should be handled under the user’s safety and confirmatory-testing protocol; the kit is not a quantitative laboratory instrument.
Detection Technology & Validation Context
STPD-06 uses the same detection methods as ChemSee’s KT-06 platform. Independent evaluation materials describe the underlying food-poison detection technology and KT-06 development program.
Related KT-06 Detection Methods
The STPD-06 uses the same broad detector methods used by the KT-06 for Groups I, II and III, while omitting the KT-06 built-in quality-assurance tabs.
